THE WITCH-HUNT CONTINUES!
The Anti-Victimisation Committee is persisting in its endeavor to victimise as many opponents, real or imaginary, as it could. Last week it was taken to the Constitutional Court by one Martin Aglae.
This week, it was yet again the former Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Patrick Herminie, who was the victim of that witch-hunt. This time round, Dr. Herminie was accused of “emotionally and verbally” abusing somebody who claimed she was a partner of Wellness Centre, the famous detoxification centre at Anse Royale. It should be noted that the person was neither an employee of the Ministry of Health which owns the place, nor an employee of the Secretariat for the Prevention of Drug Abuse and Rehabilitation of which Dr. Herminie is the Secretary of State. This newspaper has since learned that the person in question is employed by a religious organization based in South Africa, which wants to impose its religion on a government run rehabilitation programme. The new programme being introduced by Dr. Herminie promotes spirituality and not religiousness and the lady was informed accordingly. So, not only is the case frivolous and vexatious but also ridiculous and serves to show just how low the National Assembly, under the leadership of Patrick Pillay, has stooped.
Indeed, the Anti-Victimisation Committee is chaired by Patrick Pillay himself and it is considered by all legal experts to be an unconstitutional quasi-judicial body. Respondents appearing before this kangaroo court has no right to representation nor the right of appeal which are basic human rights under the Constitution.
It is interesting to note that in his last speech before recess, Patrick Pillay averred that there was a backlog of 200 plus cases before the Anti-Victimisation Committee. The case against Dr. Herminie was filed on June 9th, 2017; so how come that this case has now been given top priority to be heard by the Anti-Victimisation Committee? The answer is simple; the move is political and it is yet another attempt by the vindictive Patrick Pillay, supported by his lunatic Legal Advisor, Daniel Cesar, to try and denigrate the former Speaker and frighten anyone who dares to challenge the many irregularities being undertaken by the National Assembly.
It is not clear what exactly has Dr. Herminie done to the two, but this newspaper can reliably report that both fake profiles on Facebook; “Piti Nirvard” and “Tonton Sea” which on a daily basis hurls calumnious allegations against the former Speaker, are being operated from the National Assembly.
It is indeed a shame that our second branch of government has resorted to such tactics to try and make up for its incompetence. It should be noted that there is a growing clamors among the general public that both Pillay and Cesar should resign, given the many embarrassing procedural mistakes that had lately occurred in the National Assembly.
